Privacy Policy

Voco ("Voco", "we", "us") is a dictation keyboard that quietly coaches your English. This policy explains what we do — and mostly don't — collect. It applies to the Voco apps (iOS and Mac) and this website. Voco is operated by StoneFrontier LLC.
The short version
- Your audio never leaves your device. Transcription runs on‑device. We do not upload, store, or have access to your recordings.
- Coaching that runs on‑device is private. Pronunciation and fluency analysis happen locally on your device.
- Deeper AI review is opt‑in and uses your own key. When you enable it, your text is sent directly from your device to the AI provider you configure, under that provider's terms — not through Voco's servers.
- No account required. You can install and dictate without signing up.
- On the website, the only personal data we collect is the email address you give us to join the waitlist.
Information the app processes
Audio and transcripts. Speech‑to‑text runs entirely on your device. Audio is processed locally and is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
Your Learner Profile. The data that powers coaching — the patterns you're working on, your progress, your history — is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to us.
Optional AI review (bring your own key). The advanced lenses (grammar, word choice, clarity) call a third‑party large language model. If you turn this on, you connect your own API key, and the relevant text is sent directly from your device to that provider. We do not receive, process, or store that text. Your use of the provider is governed by the provider's own terms and privacy policy, and any costs are billed to you by them.
Information the website collects
Waitlist email. If you join the TestFlight waitlist, we collect the email address you submit so we can send you an invite and related updates. It is handled by our email/form provider acting on our behalf, and we use it only for that purpose.
Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve the site securely. We aim to keep analytics minimal and privacy‑respecting.
How we use information
We use the limited information above to: operate and improve Voco; send waitlist and product updates you asked for; respond to your messages; and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run Voco (for example, our website host and email/waitlist provider), and with the AI provider you choose if you enable optional AI review. We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
We keep your waitlist email until you ask us to remove it or it's no longer needed for the waitlist. On‑device data (transcripts, Learner Profile) is retained on your device under your control and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your choices and rights
Because most of your data lives on your device, you control it directly — edit or delete notes, or uninstall the app to remove local data. For the waitlist email we hold, you can request access or deletion at any time by emailing contact@stonefrontier.co. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We will honor applicable requests.
Children
Voco is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
International users
We're a global product. Where data is processed across borders, we take steps to protect it consistent with this policy and applicable law. Governing law for this policy is set out in our Terms of Service.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
